ByVerTek was founded in 2014 to bring a higher level of performance to the communications cable construction and installation industry. Recently, ByVerTek obtained an investment from Diversity Capital Company, LLC to rapidly increase capabilities to expand the digital highway for all.

 

Constantly evolving to stay at the forefront of IoT and other cutting-edge technologies, today we perform projects across the United States, for many of the world’s largest multiple system operators and telecommunication companies and others.

 

With new capital from Diversity Capital Company, LLC through its affiliate, Diversity Capital Fund I L.P., ByVerTek is expanding in-house crews and equipment, funding strategic acquisitions and taking a leadership role as one of the largest minority-controlled and led business enterprises in the sector.

Gary M. Ludgood

FORMER PRESIDENT, AT&T FIELD OPERATIONS

Gary has nearly 40 years of experience in the areas of outside plant planning, engineering and construction. During his career, he led teams that built fiber optic new builds and overbuilds, special event networks, disaster recovery reconstruction, and road relocation projects throughout the Southeast United States. He also developed and executed short- and long-term network plans, managed thousands of domestic and international employees, managed budgets exceeding $8 billion, and provided advice and leadership for the successful integration of diverse work activities.

Gary led the first fiber overbuild for BellSouth Entertainment that was designed to pass 100,000 homes in the Atlanta metropolitan area, the network recovery team following Hurricane Katrina, and the network merger integration activities for the AT&T/BellSouth and AT&T/DirecTV mergers. He has served in numerous senior management roles for AT&T including President - AT&T Field Operations, Senior Vice President – Internet and Entertainment Field Services, Senior Vice President- Global Network Field Operations, and many more.

Named “One of the 300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America” by Black Enterprise magazine in 2017, Gary currently also serves on the Board of Georgia’s Own Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in Georgia, with more than $4 billion in assets and over 200,000 members.

Gary earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering technology from the University of Alabama and completed the Goizueta Executive Program from Emory University.

Keith F. Holmes

FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL, 3E LEADERSHIP COACHING

Keith is a former C-Suite executive with over 30 years’ experience in the telecom industry. Previous to joining ByVerTek’s board, Keith was Chief Revenue Officer for ADT where he oversaw Marketing and Sales along with revenue and customer growth for the company and led the Consumer Small Business space which accounted for $4 billion of ADT’s $5 billion in revenue. He also served as Executive Vice President Head of Cox Business leading Cox’s $3 billion business segment.

Prior to running Cox Business, Keith was Senior Vice President Head of Residential Sales for Cox Communications. In that role he was responsible for Sales (all channels), Sales Strategy, Sales Operations, and Multi-Family leading over 3,000 employees, generating $9 billion in revenue. At Cox Keith also co-founded and co-sponsored WGN, a mentoring and coaching program designed for the growth and support of Black male leaders in Director-level and above positions. He began his career at BellSouth (subsequently AT&T) where he drove the Georgia/South Carolina market region for AT&T Wireless earning $2.8 billion in revenue.

Currently Keith serves as Founder and Principal of 3E Leadership Coaching, where he coaches leaders to develop the skills to influence outcomes and inspire others.

Over the course of his career, Keith has earned numerous accolades including being one of CableFAX’s Most Influential Minorities and being named in 2020 as a CableFax Next Generation Leader. He has also consistently served the community at large as mentor and Board member for the Boys and Girls Clubs, Camp Fire Boys and Girls, and Camp Twin Lakes, as a volunteer for Junior Achievement and a volunteer high school football coach.

Keith received a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and a Masters in Business from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dennis Bruce

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES

Drawing on his 18+ years executive experience in the telecom industry, Dennis is able to bring deep insight into client needs in his role as ByVerTek’s head of Sales. Having founded and led his own “Prime” construction and installation company serving major telecom companies, he can apply firsthand experience in all aspects of the business and contribute strategic thinking to drive operational optimization and innovation.

Immediately prior to joining ByVerTek, Dennis served as Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer for BDC Group, Inc., an Iowa-based broadband infrastructure services company offering outside plant fiber construction; on-demand services such as fiber drops, infrastructure services, general construction, planning, maintenance, and emergency; and Telecom Site Development including site builds and refurbishments. As leader, he grew the company to 97 employees plus independent contractors working across 25 states.

Additionally, Dennis served as Director of Projects for Lattice Communications which at the time was the nation’s largest stocking dealer of new and refurbished telecommunications equipment such as telecom shelters, industrial generators, telecommunication cabinets and towers. In that role he directed all phases of operations department programs from inception through completion, including marketing and sales, system design/engineering, project management, and custom development implementation.

Dennis holds an Associate's degree in Architectural Design from Kirkwood Community College and completed studies in Business and Marketing from Northeast Iowa Community College.

Bill Meyer

VICE PRESIDENT OF FIELD OPERATIONS

Bringing with him over thirty years of experience in telecommunications along with twelve years in the military, Bill joins ByVerTek with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams to collaborate toward business unit goals, driving greater efficiencies, engagement, and revenue. He has demonstrated the ability to forge solid relationships with strategic partners while establishing consensus across multi-organizational levels.

Prior to working at ByVerTek, Bill served for over 23 years at AT&T, most recently as a Director of Technology Training for Outside Plant and AT&T’s national wireless program. Bill also served on AT&T’s Veterans National Board, developing and implementing a new mentoring program for Veterans, which was bestowed with Program of the Year honors among all employee resource groups. One of the facets of Bill’s effective leadership is team member development, which includes accountability, diversity, and inclusion. This enables team members to challenge themselves to achieve both personal and professional excellence.

Bill earned a BS in Business, graduating with honors, from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut.

Gary Gadson

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Gary is a telecom operations executive and organizational change agent with over 25 years of telecom experience in mobilizing people, technology, and processes to drive operational excellence, customer success, and business/technology transformation. Previously he has led the turnaround of a regional fiber broadband provider and generated a half billion in new service revenue and doubled digital technology adoption for AT&T.

Prior to joining ByVerTek, Gary served as interim Chief Executive Officer of Summit Broadband, a leading fiber-optics telecommunications provider in Orlando, Florida. During his 18-year tenure at AT&T, Gary held several key leadership roles of increasing responsibility in areas of mobility and financial operations, customer service, business strategy, software engineering, and technology management - including Assistant Vice President leading strategy and oversight for 400 training experts and change management support for AT&T employees and founding member of the AT&T Partner Exchange (APEX), an award-winning reseller program.   

In addition, Gary served as an Operating Partner for Grain Management and Managing Partner for Norval LLC, a leading private investment firm and a management consulting firm, respectively, focused on broadband infrastructure and technology companies.

Gary earned a BS in Mathematics, graduating with honors from Bowie State University, an MS in electrical and computer engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Mason Wiley

CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

Mason has over 30 years of marketing and advertising experience including client and agency sides, both B2B and B2C, and has served a wide range of companies from startups to large companies like Disney, Coca Cola, Wellpoint, Deloitte, Kraft, NBC Universal and more. In addition to serving as Chief Marketing Officer for ByVerTek, Mason also currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer for Diversity Capital Company, LLC.

Previously, Mason has led marketing for nine startups – Market Rebellion, Connect Now Inc., tradeMONSTER, Talegent and more – including three on the INC500 List of Fastest-Growing Companies and two successful acquisitions. He has also led marketing for leading digital direct response marketing agency Fosina Marketing Goup, and two of the largest performance-based ad networks W4 and Hydra Network (acquired by AdKnowledge), overseeing the latter’s growth from under $40 million to over $100 million in just 18 months. Prior to that, Mason served as Creative Consultant to Universal Pictures Marketing and leading Hollywood entertainment ad agencies, and served as Principal for marketing consultancy The Wiley Group.

Mason received his Bachelor of Arts degree in European Intellectual History from Wesleyan University and a Masters in Integrated Marketing from Northwestern University.

Terrique Anderson

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE AND CORPORATE CONTROLLER

Terrique brings over 20 years experience in finance and accounting. Over the course of his career he has set up and directed accounting departments, system reviews, and financial reporting for both public and private corporations, performed financial forecasting, worked on mergers and acquisitions, negotiated and reviewed insurance coverage and policies, restructured corporate debt, dealt with legal issues and settlements, negotiated multiple multimillion-dollar loan agreements with banks and venture capital and set up overseas operations for start-ups and subsidiaries in North America, the U.K., and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Most recently Terrique served as Chief Financial Officer for Moguldom Media Group, a leading digital media platform focused on entrepreneurship, tech, politics, markets and crypto. Prior to that he served as Operations Manager Green and Solar Microcities, LLC, Financial Controller for the Fisher Island Community Association, Accountant at London-based home entertainment retailer Richer Sounds and also Accountant at Nestor Healthcare Group, the largest specialist provider of domiciliary care in the UK.

Terrique received his Bachelor of Science in Economics/Accounting and International Politics from University at Albany, SUNY. In addition he has earned certifications in Financial Accounting (IFRS) and anagementment Accounting from Emile Wolf College in London; Audit and Assurance, Pereformance Management, Corporate Governance, Risk and Ethic and Business Analysis from Financial Training Company in London; as well as Montego Bay Community College and Munro College.

Russell Edelbaum

DIRECTOR OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE

Russell has worked his way up the fiber construction ladder starting at ByVerTek as a Program Coordinator and then Corporate Project Manager. Today he serves as Director of Project Management Office where he manages the methodologies, standards, overall risks/opportunities, metrics, and interdependence among projects at the enterprise level for ByVerTek construction and installation projects.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida.

Dara McGrath

VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Dara brings over 20 years of experience working across all facets of Human Resources in high-growth companies in the technology and healthcare sectors. Her work in start-ups allowed her to partner closely with business leaders to drive business results while also working hands-on in recruiting, onboarding, benefits, payroll, and employee relations. Dara was an HR Business Partner at TransUnion for seven years, where she gained invaluable experience working in a large, global company.

Dara specializes in working with smaller companies as they grow and in building positive employee experience and culture. She holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute and is a Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional.

Dara earned her Bachelor of Arts in English/Journalism-Communications from Averett College and her Teacher Education/Certification from Georgia State University.

Sean O'Brien

VICE PRESIDENT OF CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS

Sean brings over 30 years experience in his role leading ByVerTek’s field construction operations. Prior to ByVerTek, he served as Operations Director for Amtec, a national provider of outsourced solutions to the cable television, telecommunications and broadband services industries. He began his career at Time Warner Cable as an installer and moved up to Operation Manager.

A former member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), Sean earned his BA in Business Administration and Management at University of the Incarnate Word in Texas.

Keith Holland

SENIOR DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Keith is a seasoned cable and communications industry veteran with 30 years experience. As Technical Operations Manager for Comcast Cable, he was responsible for positive fulfillment operational results in support of over a quarter million broadband CATV customers, 165 front line technicians and 12 Technical Supervisors and collaborated cross functional partnerships with Engineering, Business Operations and Customer Care to deliver best practice impacts for system/area improvements.

Prior to ByVerTek, Mr. Holland also served as Director of Technical Operations for Time Warner Cable, Area Engineer and Technical Operations Manager for Adelphia Communications, Senior Technical Trainer for MediaOne and a System Tech for Continental Cablevision, and as a Corporal for the US Army with the 3rd Battalion 75th Rangers.

Russ Nidy

SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE CEO

Possessing decades of financial expertise in the manufacturing and construction industries, Russ oversees company investments to assure the delivery of successful outcomes for ByVerTek clients. Prior to ByVerTek, he served as CFO for custom plastic extruder and injection molder Montville Plastics & Rubber and as Controller for plastic manufacturer Bloom Industries, Inc.

Russ received his B.A. from Malone University and an Associates degree in Accounting from Stark State College. He also currently serves as Mayor for Cloud Lake, Florida in Palm Beach County.

Lawrence C. Manson, Jr.

EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, BYVERTEK

Larry has more than 30 years of financial management and private equity experience. During his career, he has evaluated thousands of leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, joint ventures or other types of investment transactions, invested more than $530 million of equity or subordinated debt in various transactions, arranged debt financings in excess of $2 billion, closed more than 30 merger, acquisition or divestiture transactions, participated in the underwriting of public equity offerings in excess of $250 million, managed several hundred employees, created and executed numerous strategic plans and provided consulting advice to many business owners.

In addition to Chairing ByVerTek, Larry currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for Diversity Capital Company, LLC, a company providing financing and consulting solutions to economically empower diverse businesses, and for the investment advisory and consulting firm NexTier Companies, LLC. Previous to that, he held leadership roles with several private equity firms.

Larry received an AB degree in economics from Princeton University and an MBA degree in finance from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Derek K. Jones

VICE CHAIRMAN, GCM GROSVENOR

As a Vice Chairman of GCM Grosvenor, Derek co-heads the firm’s private equity co-investment practice and diverse manager practice and his responsibilities include deal sourcing and investment underwriting activities. He is also a member of the Private Equity, Real Estate and Infrastructure Investment Committee and serves on the Global Investment Council and the Diversity & Inclusion Governing Committee. Prior to joining GCM Grosvenor, Derek was a Managing Partner at Oncore Capital, as well as a General Partner at Provender Capital. He started his private equity career at Prudential Insurance Company as part of Prudential Equity Investors, which subsequently became Cornerstone Equity Investors, where he was a partner.

Derek received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from American University and his Master of Business Administration in Finance from New York University. Derek serves on the Board of, and was former Treasurer to, the National Association of Investment Companies. He is a recipient of the Pacesetter Award from the National Association of Investment Companies in 2012 and the UNCF Keeper of the Flame Award in 2016. He was also recognized as one of the 75 Most Powerful Blacks on Wall Street by Black Enterprise Magazine in 2011.
